In 2006, Earth-Sense participated in a Vendor Demonstration hosted by the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security. The purpose of these demonstrations is to evaluate the best candidate technologies on a real tunnel that was found recently, as there was significant interest in finding, identifying, and monitoring construction of tunnels because of their possible use as stealthy conduits for smuggling weapons of mass destruction by transnational terrorists. Our technology was chosen over all others due to our mobility and success at locating tunnels. We were subsequently awarded a Broad-Agency-Announcement contract with the Army Corps’ Engineering Research & Development Center to survey the US-Mexican border. Areas of concern focused at Otay Mesa, Calexico, Nogales, and El Paso. We successfully examined more than 1,400 miles under the protection of the U.S. Border Patrol and Immigrations & Custom Enforcement.
We located this tunnel under the border.
